How to judge an IPTV trial properly
Most people test for two minutes on a quiet Tuesday and learn nothing. These four checks tell you whether you are looking at a strong IPTV service or a weekend hobby.
Test at peak time
Open a live match at kick-off, not a music channel at midday. Peak load is where cheap providers fall apart.
Watch the zap time
Flick between ten channels. Each should open in about a second, not spin for five.
Check the EPG
Open the guide a few days ahead. A missing or wrong guide usually means a poorly maintained service.
Open the VOD

Mistakes that make a good service look bad
- Testing on hotel or office Wi-Fi. Shared networks throttle video; judge the service on the connection you will actually watch on.
- Leaving the app on 4K over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The line is fine; the last three metres are not. Move to 5 GHz or ethernet before blaming the stream.
- Opening one channel for ten seconds. Sit on a live match for a few minutes — buffering, if it happens, shows up under load, not on a still picture.
